The 2020 San Francisco International Wine Competition awarded Lava Terrace Cellars silver medals for its 2018 Reserve – One Barrel Marechal Foch and its 2019 Marquette, and it earned bronze medals for its 2018 and 2019 Grown on Volcanic Rock at 3,400 feet La Crescent.
These awards are in addition to the silver medals Lava Terrace Cellars was awarded by the 2020 Sunset International Wine Competition for its 2017 barrel aged Marechal Foch and 2018 barrel aged La Crescent.
Lava Terrace Cellars owners Dina and Duane Barker are honored for the recognition they are receiving for their newly launched wines. They started their Bend vineyard in 2012 by planting Brianna, Marechal Foch, La Crescent and Marquette. Today, they have more than 4,000 vines on 5.5 acres with plans to expand their vineyard in 2021.
This is the first year they have entered their wines in competitions.
“We are so excited with the success we have had, and we are looking forward to the 2020 vintage. We had an excellent harvest this fall with amazing fruit, and we can’t wait to see the results of our handcrafted wines from our Marquette, Marechal Foch and La Crescent grapes,” Duane said.
